Anyone living or working on the FSU campus may use their FSU ID to reserve from 15 to 45 minutes at a time (single occupancy only) in the Rams Relaxation Room (C-UM08, located near the Curriculum Library on the Upper Mezzanine).
The following relaxation aids are available in the Relaxation Room: A massage lounge chair, a light therapy device, a white noise machine, an air purifier, jigsaw puzzles, yoga mats, and more....
A Sensory Backpack is available to be checked out for 2 hours at a time from the Reserves Collection at the Access Services Desk. Makes a great addition to a visit to in the Rams Relaxation Space!
iPad tablets are also available to check out from Reserves for use in the Rams Renewal Space.
Down on the Lower Mezzanine, there's a stationary bike (cannot be reserved - first come, first serve) that you can hop onto to do some stress-relieving cycling while reading.
Run by Sodexo, the Red Barn Cafe' is located to the right just inside the library's main entrance. They serve coffee drinks, other beverages, bagels and pastries, snacks, fruit, sandwiches, salads, and soups, which can be purchased from eight am until two pm Monday through Thursday; and from eight am until one pm on Fridays. The Red Barn is closed weekends, on FSU-designated holidays, during school breaks, and during the summer.
The cafe' area also contains a Farmer's Fridge vending machine which has arguably healthier fare (and more expensive, since actual meals like sandwiches, grain bowls, and salads are available alongside healthy snacks) than the average vending machine. After the cafe' is closed for the day, the cafe' seating area, microwave, and the Farmer's Fridge can be used until the library building closes.
A snack vending machine and a drink vending machine are located on the Upper Mezzanine, to the left from the building's left side stairwell and just past the bathrooms. These take cash and cards.
The first floor water fountain (right between the stairwell and the elevator) now functions as a water bottle-filling station.
The Whittemore Library displays art on loan from FSU's Danforth Museum throughout the library, and themed poster exhibits from the Smithsonian can be seen along the first floor corridor leading the the 1st floor IT student-staffed Help Desk.
Occasionally, larger, special exhibitions occur, normally displayed in the library's central Reading Room area (aka 'The Pit').
