Late last month, on January 27, 2025, the American Library Association announced this year’s Youth Media Award winners at their LibLearnX conference held in Phoenix, AZ. The YMA’s honor a variety of outstanding books and digital media for children and young adults—including the prestigious Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King Book Awards. Selected by committees of librarians and other literature and media experts, the list of winners serves as guidance to parents, educators, and librarians in selecting the best materials for today’s youth, while also recognizing the diverse group of authors and illustrators that make these awards possible. The American Library Association strives to encourage original and creative work in literature and young adult media, and they definitely made some great picks this year!
