We’re excited to welcome Sammi Tartaglia to the Henry Whittemore Library as our new user services and instruction librarian! To help the campus community get to know her better, I asked Sammi if she could answer a few questions about her background, interests, and what she loves most about working in libraries:
What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Sammi Tartaglia, and I am from Rhode Island.
What are you passionate about? (either inside or outside of librarianship)
I am passionate about higher education, which is why I love working as an academic librarian.
What was your background like before coming to Framingham State University?
Before Framingham State University, I worked as an academic librarian at a few other academic libraries in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
What’s your favorite part about working in a library?
I love the welcoming, inclusive environment that exists within libraries.
Are there any upcoming projects or programs at the library you’re excited to be working on?
I am still adjusting here, so I do not have an answer... yet.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I spend my free time with my daughters.
Any book or movie/TV show recommendations? Tell us about your favorites!
I enjoy a variety of books, anything from nonfiction books to fiction. However, I am currently a doctoral student, and I have only really had the time to read textbooks so nothing to recommend lately.
How can students get in touch with you if they need research help?
Students can find me in my office (UM 12), the reference desk, or email me at startaglia@framingham.edu when they need research help.
