Don’t get discouraged if you find the perfect book or article for your research - but can’t access it because FSU doesn’t own it? Use Interlibrary Loan!
Interlibrary Loan is a FREE service that is offered through the library. If the FSU library doesn’t have access to a book or article you need, most times, we can get it for you from a different library.
Books: If you can’t find a book at the FSU Library, through the Minuteman Catalog, or through the Commonweath Catalog, you can request the book using the Interlibrary Loan form found here: Interlibrary Loan
Books can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to come in, so please plan your research accordingly. A lot of times, a library in the Minuteman Network will have the book, so check there first because those books are coming from local libraries, they usually come quicker.
Note: requesting books through the Minuteman Catalog requires you to make an account and sign in. Your library card number is on the back of your student ID. If you have any trouble registering for an account, please email circulation@framingham.edu
Articles: If you are looking for article, please use Ram Search. Once the article title comes up, at the bottom, you will see an Access Now drop down. If we own the article full text, it will tell you in the drop-down menu. If we don’t own it full text, it will say Request Through Interlibrary Loan. The article information will pre-fill. All you have to do is enter your personal information and library card number and hit submit. It’s that easy!
Articles can take anywhere from 1 day to a 1 week to come in. The articles will be emailed directly to your inbox!
Interlibrary loan is a fantastic service and it’s free and easy to use. Please take advantage of this hidden gem for research!
