Once you have been hired, you will receive a schedule and have a training session to learn the circulation functions.
Training will be provided to all student assistants. It may be given in a group setting or as one-on-one training. The library staff will closely supervise new student assistants until they are able to handle their assigned tasks more independently. General supervision will always be applied.
Work Schedules are arranged with the needs of the department as well as class schedules in mind. The supervisor of each department will work with the Student Assistant to arrange a mutually beneficial schedule. Student Assistants on Work-Study will have their award calculated into their schedule. While it is understood that a student’s primary responsibility is academic, it must also be recognized that a student assistant has a responsibility to the library. Any changes in a student’s schedule must be reported to their department supervisor.
