The Ella C. Ritchie Curriculum Library, founded in 1970 by FSU Alumna and 1st Curriculum Librarian Mary M. Burns (and named in honor of early 20th century FSU Librarian Ellen C. Ritchie) provides resources and services to FSU faculty and students, with a particular focus on the Education Department. It supports active, collaborative learning, and provides materials, resources and technology for lesson planning, teaching, and scholarship.

Includes:

  • Curriculum Materials Collection (Current commercial textbooks, handbooks, kits, activity creation art supplies)
  • Print back issues of classic children's literature journals (e.g.:The Hornbook)
  • The Mary Burns Collection of Award-Winning Children's Literature (Reference copies of the winners of multiple Children's Lit / Illustration awards)
  • The Swider Collection (A donated Children's Lit collection)
  • Children's Juvenile/Young Adult Collection* (Containing texts similar to a typical K - 12 library collection)
  • The Notable Collection (Reference copies of Swiacki Children’s Literature Festival honorees' works, rare books, historical children's books (some culturally / racially problematic today)

*Faculty have, naturally, found this collection convenient for borrowing a variety of books for young children / grandchildren in their family
