Earlier this month, we bid good-bye to our longtime Curriculum Librarian and DICE Faculty Fellow Program Coordinator Samantha Westall. Since starting her journey at the Henry Whittemore Library nearly a decade ago, Samantha has been instrumental in acquiring resources and programming for the university's Education students, faculty, and beyond which reflect the institution's commitment to inclusion, justice, and equality. This fall, she begins an exciting new chapter in her professional journey as she pursues a doctorate degree from Pennsylvania State University, but before she left, Samantha shared the following pearls of wisdom:

Can you sum up your years at Framingham State?

My time at FSU has been incredibly meaningful. I’ve had the privilege to work alongside passionate colleagues, collaborate on equity-focused initiatives, and support students in transformative ways.

What has been the biggest change you have experienced in your nine years here?

One of the biggest changes I’ve seen is the deepening of conversations around inclusion, access, and student-centered learning. There’s still work to be done, but the momentum is real and inspiring.

What are you plans for the immediate future?

I’m heading into a new chapter that includes teaching, writing, and diving deeper into research but I’m also looking forward to remaining connected with the library world in a different way.

What has been your one takeaway from your time at the University?

Biggest takeaway? Relationships matter. Collaboration, trust, and shared purpose are what make change possible, and FSU has taught me how powerful those can be when nurtured whether it is on campus or in the broader community.

I would like to thank everyone that has made this a meaningful place to grow, lead, and learn. I’ll carry the lessons, and the friendships, with me always.
