Student and Faculty Guide to Artificial Intelligence

This guide contains information and opportunities for learning about the types, applications, and educational use cases of artificial intelligence, alongside materials related to the ramifications and ethics of their use.

AI Tools

List of AI Tools

AI programs can be used for a wide variety of functions, including media generation, research assistance, data analysis, and systematic review.

Image Generators

Image generators are generally programs where the user enters a prompt into a text box and the program generates an image based on the prompt. These tools often include different stylistic options, aspect ratios, and editing abilities.

Video Generators

Video generators are typically programs that allow the user to upload a script, which are then read by an automated voice. Some video tools also allow the user to input a prompt, which will generate a video with stock footage.

Audio Generators

Audio generators have two main categories: voice generation and music generation. For the former, the user uploads a script and chooses a style of voice for the script to be read in. For the latter, the user inputs a prompt to create a piece of music, sometimes with lyrics and sometimes without. Lyrics can generally either be written by the user or be left to the program.

Text Generators

Text generators typically have a text box where the user can input a prompt or question, which the program then responds to. Users can generate essays, stories, poems, song lyrics, plays, and more.

Code Generators

Code generators allow the user to describe the type of code they want and the program interprets that description. These programs can often generate snippets of code, and some can even generate entire programs.

Research Assistance

Research assistance tools generally allow the user to input a topic or set of topics so that the program can find sources pertaining to that topic. Many of these tools are useful for finding references in studies or papers, and most can find articles about the user's topic. Some tools can even summarize the articles for the user.

Data Analysis & Systematic Review

Data analysis and systematic review tools work with large sets of data, such as literature reviews. These programs can organize data and find insights, such as patterns, that allow the user to make new connections.
